13 August 2015:
Shelf cloud over Satellite Beach, Florida

August 13, 2015: Strong storms started early today, and by 1:30 p.m., when I was in Satellite Beach, a magnificent shelf cloud was bearing south. Beachgoers took their time to leave the beach in the face of the ominous arcus cloud. Share

A beautiful shelf cloud from a strong storm moving south from northern Brevard County threatened Satellite Beach about 1:30 p.m. Aug. 13.
It's always fun to watch these clouds evolve - this one undulated.
I like the contrast of the sea grapes curving over the dune and the shelf cloud curving overhead. This is looking northwest.
Magnificent layers formed in the beautiful shelf cloud. Bathers were starting to abandon their beach posts.
The heavy rain was right behind it, visible under the shelf.
Here's a vertical look at the beautiful layers.
The beach cleared out as the storm moved overhead.
A last look at the shelf cloud over Satellite Beach.
